999 - Don't know 1
AS far as I know - catches everyone in at right time - I suppose so 1
Basically its such a wide remit of subjects we hit the nail on the head sometimes 1
Because a lot of the figures are broadcast and you see them a lot-so they're up front 1
Can't believe they would still be functioning after this long time if they had always been. 1
Could do better, need to monitor better the odd figures that throw the statistics; room for improvement 1
Depends on people's responses - but think is generally accurate 1
Figures are reguatly collected published and as good as you can get and not challenged greatly 1
Generally a sound basis on the way the statistics are collected 1
Gives out misleading information. Govt only gives out the statistics it wants 1
Good for business but unsure about general availability suggest internet for younger generation 1
I accept that most of the figures are correct-they reflect quite well the trends 1
I have confidence in the way they collect dtatistics from people as individuals 1
Interested in RPI and house prices and av wages 1
PROBABLY DO A GOOD JOB BUT STATS COULD BE MISUSED 1
Thinks invaluable job (uses in his work) 1
appear to do good job 1
assume people properly trained in statistics 1
averages are useful 1
aware of them due to my job 1
because of forces exerted on it and because figs are treated in a simplistic way 1
by question being asked 1
collecting it is done well and ons interprets and publishes good information its what the polictians do to them when they get them that worries the public 1
collecting stats O K interpretation is faulty 1
compares favourably to what I see 1
cos im anserwing as correctly as i can otherwise everybodys time s wasted isnt it 1
depends what govt does with them 1
done properly;very detailed questions 1
everyone needs figures and they are very accurate for management. Necessary within large companies 1
experience and knowledge of how to do it 1
figures collected ok but afterwards....... 1
figures seem generally accepted 1
general impression 1
generally believe figures quoted 1
getting info that the govt wouldn't normally get 1
give the country good guidance of what is going on 1
give useful indication for the way things are 1
given the rules by which they are told to collect the data they do ok 1
gov policies depend on their accuracy compared to other agencies 1
govt dept has someone to oversee its correctly done 1
have used the4 services of ons 1
high profile in press 1
i dont know of any other way of doing it but you have to be a little sceptical 1
i use the figures and trust them 1
i use them for my assignments 1
i watch the figures on teleyext and they are published on a regular basis they are never queeried 1
i,ve never really got the impression that its inconsistant or otherwise innacurate 1
independant body 1
isupose so yes its averages so its fairly similar 1
it does a reasonable job / but i would question the source / they come out regularly... 1
it does well under the circumstances 1
its a job that needs to be done and they are perhaps the ones to do it 1
most reliable barometer, no-one else to contest them 1
must be doing good job or they would not be there 1
no adverse publicity 1
no alternative 1
no choice but to do a good job at what we are told to do 1
no other reason to say otherwise 1
no reason to distrust the information;its generally trusted 1
not terribly effective - people having to go round having to see people - must miss lots of people - no real efficient way of doing it - as good as it can 1
nothing to disprove it 1
people who give answers must be true 1
problems are so complex but they do a good job 1

somebodies got to do it 1
somebody has to find out information 1
somebody has to produce statistics 1
statistician 1
the figures are there, so at least they have made an effort to collect the data 1
they are regular in what they do but stats are open to interpretation. 1
they do a good job but how accurate they are is another matter... 1
they do a good job of collecting and publishing what they are told to do, but it doesnt mean its correct 1
