| Universe | A clustered 10% sample of the main NCDS cohort, i.e. all those living in England and Wales born in one particular week in 1958, who had participated in an earlier NCDS follow-up and were not known to have died, emigrated or refused.;National | |||||||||
| Sampling | One-stage cluster sample.;A simple random sample of the NCDS cohort. Twenty-five sampling points were used, based on interval sampling of all postcode areas in England and Wales, with a random starting point. | |||||||||
