LabelOpinion on current road charging
Question text It is estimated that about 15-20% of the cost of running a car for the average motorist goes towards taxes and other charges. These costs include vehicle excise duty (the tax disk), tax on fuel paid at the pump and occasional direct charges (tolls and congestion charges). Given the system of charging for road use just described, which of the statements on this card best describes your views on the current system of road charging? The current system of charging for roads doesn't need changing; The system should be changed so that people who don't use certain types of road pay less, even if this means some people pay more than at present; The system should be changed so that people cannot cheat the system by evading some of their road taxes; The system should be changed so that those who do not use the roads at the busiest times pay less, even if this means some people pay more than at present; The system should provide stronger incentives to drive more environmentally friendly cars.
