If respondents ask, the 'Older and Bolder' initiative is aimed at getting older people involved in learning activities. This has many benefits for older people and yet the percentage of people who are learners rapidly declines with age. This project aims to highlight the benefits to policy and decision makers, learning providers and older people themselves in an attempt to increase both the amount and range of provision and encourage participation.
Age awareness week is based on International Day for Older People which falls on 1st October each year. It has been running for five years in Northern Ireland and it highlights challenges in the lives of older people as well as celebrating the multiple identities of older people.
