Payment by results: ‘Payment by results’ includes any method of payment where the pay is determined by the amount done or its value, rather than just the number of hours worked. It includes commission, and bonuses that are determined by individual, workplace or organisation productivity or performance. It does not include profit-related pay schemes. 2. Merit pay: ‘Merit pay’ is related to a subjective assessment of individual performance by a supervisor or manager.
