Interviewer InstructionsThis is based on the circumstances of the household reference person. Dependent children are those aged under 16 or aged 16-18, never married and still in nonadvanced further education and not a foster child living in the household.

SamplingMulti-stage stratified random sample
Study TypeRepeated cross-sectional study;monthly (up to year 2000), eight cycles per year (up to April 2005), monthly thereafter. From April 2014, reverted back to eight cycles per year.
