Independent market research company Public Knowledge were commissioned by NHS Tees to conduct research to assess cancer awareness, using the validated Cancer Awareness Measure (CAM). Data were collected using a combined face-to-face street and door-knocking methodology from the most deprived wards served by NHS Tees, specifically: NHS Hartlepool, NHS Redcar and Cleveland, NHS Stockton on Tees and NHS Middlesbrough.
