The UK Data Service (UKDS) was funded to compile this teaching dataset by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC).
The Office for National Statistics deposited the main Opinions and Lifestyle Survey, Well-Being Module, January, February, April, and May, 2015 (held at UK Data Archive under SN 7815), from which this dataset has been compiled. The depositors would like to thank ONS for their permission to repurpose the data.

Abstract copyright UK Data Service and data collection copyright owner.The Opinions and Lifestyle Survey, Well-Being Module, April-May 2015: Unrestricted Access Teaching Dataset is based on the Opinions and Lifestyle Survey, Well-Being Module, January, February, April and May, 2015 (available from UK Data Archive under SN 7815) and constitutes real data which are used by government, business and other organisations. The teaching dataset is a subset which has been subjected to certain simplifications and additions for the purpose of learning and teaching.
The main differences are:
For the second edition (August 2016) a new weighting variable has been added to the data and the user guide has been updated accordingly.
The Well-Being Module, (Module MCZ), was originally asked on behalf of ONS and respondents were enquired of their well-being, rating it on a scale of 0-10, where 0 is generally low and 10 high.

The OPN is a repeated cross-sectional study, but this teaching dataset has been compiled using only data from the April - May 2015 Well-Being Module.
