The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Industrial Statistics comprise the following datasets:• The INDSTAT2 2015 ISIC Revision 3 database contains data for the period from 1963 to 2012 for 170 countries. Data are arranged at the 2-digit level of the International Standard Industrial Classification of All Economic Activities (ISIC) Revision 3 pertaining to the manufacturing sector, which comprises 23 industries. The database combines historical time series data derived from INDSTAT3 ISIC Rev.2 with recent years' data, which include data reported in ISIC Revision 3 as well as those reported in ISIC Revision 4. However, it should be noted that time period covered by the database, as well as item coverage, differ from country to country. • The INDSTAT4 2015 ISIC Revision 3 database contains time series data for the period 2003 to 2012 and for 139 countries. The data are arranged at the 3- and 4-digit level of the International Standard Industrial Classification of All Economic Activities (ISIC) Revision 3 pertaining to the manufacturing sector, which comprises 152 manufacturing categories. • The INDSTAT4 2015 ISIC Revision 4 database contains time series data for the period 2003 to 2012 and for 72 countries. The data are arranged at the 3- and 4-digit level of the International Standard Industrial Classification of All Economic Activities (ISIC) Revision 4 pertaining to the manufacturing sector, which comprises 162 manufacturing categories. |

| Method of data collection: |
Four major sources have been used in compiling and cleaning the data contained in the UNIDO database: i) industry data reported in country questionnaires ii) national publications for industrial censuses, annual surveys and input-output tables iii) international sources, both published and unpublished iv) national data compiled by statisticians engaged by UNIDO to work in specific countries Furthermore, the data have been supplemented with UNIDO estimates. Data for OECD member countries are collected by OECD through OECD/UNIDO joint country questionnaires and provided to UNIDO for inclusion in the database. |
